From my previous one minute process engineering series, you've learned within one minute, process engineers can get a lot of work done! In this article, you will learn just in one minute, you can generate all the control valves data sheets from Promax, a chemical process simulator for process troubleshooting and design, developed and sold by Bryan Research and Engineering, Inc.
As you can see, in this GSP Expander plant, there are two control valves: one is the "JT Valve" and the other one is the "Cold JT" valve. Do you think you can generate the data sheets for these two control valves within one minute? You may be a fast action guy and indeed you can generate two valves within one minute. But how about if there are 20 or more control valves?
An Excel program was developed by Guofu Chen to handle this kind of routine tasks for process engineers.
This is a standard ISA control valve template, but all the process information is missing. Simply click "Report Generator" from the Promax menu in Excel, and select the current Promax simulation file, input the job number and check the "project" box, then simply hit "Report" button and save the file.
The magic just happened. Two control valves data sheets are ready to send to vendors for quote. Let us take a closer look at the data sheets. It includes the valve tag name, critical pressure, mass flow rate, pressure, temperature and all the physical properties necessary to size a control valve. If pipe diameter is calculated in ProMax, it will be reported here as well. Even if you have twenty valves, the data sheets can still be generated within one minute.
With this powerful tool, do yo think you can generate 20 control valves data sheets within one minute? Surely you can.
